Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona – Spain
The commission consists in the extension and reform of an isolated single-family home designed by us twenty years before. The changes in the family organization of the owners asked to gain meters to accommodate a study area for the children and a second living room, incorporate a new sun protection system for one of the porches, as well as replace some interior finishing materials that had been spoiled over time.
Through the use of an aluminum enclosure part of the surface of the upstairs terrace and the porch is conditioned to incorporate it into the interior spaces to reform. This new glazed volume that appears on the facade is equipped with adjustable roller blinds, similar to the Menorcan ones of the rest of the house, integrating into the existing architecture. A tempered glass canopy and aluminum profile structure with a retractable textile awning system helps control sun exposure on the porch.
Inside, the original white wooden plinths are replaced by macael white marble ones, using the same material to cover the risers of the interior staircase.
