Sunset Shores, Sisal, Yucatan – Mexico
The two rectangular and flat plots are located in a residential development on the seafront, between the sea and the lagoon. The commission consists of the design of a couple of guesthouses that can operate autonomously with common use areas and private spaces. The project raises two symmetrical buildings in the shape of a fret, creating two entrance patios (one for each volume) on the access street and a single patio on the beachside with the pool, solariums and porches. The program is developed on one floor with the central bar, parallel to the coast, of two heights, housing the common areas on the ground floor and two suites with 180o degree views of the sea on the second level. The arm that forms the access patios contains the service areas and the one that extends to the sea the rest of the rooms for guests.
A reticular structure of concrete pillars is proposed, with masonry enclosures with stone from the region, wood carpentry to ensure good durability in the marine environment, pivoting blinds with adjustable slats for solar and privacy control and polished concrete floors.
